Tennessee Valley Chapter of Safari Club International is a very active club.  We support a multitude of activities and worthwhile causes. Check out the "Where Your Dollars Go" pages to see all of the different activities our chapter invests in.

To achieve these milestones though we must rely on funding from you, our members and the surrounding community.  The Banquet and Auction is our number one source of annual financing but it is so much more too. It is a spectacular night out with friends and colleagues. We put in a great deal of time and effort to make sure that even if you don't buy anything, your night is well worth the ticket you purchased. Don't spend the whole year listening to your buddy who went  talking about what you missed, come grab a seat and have a night out you will not soon forget.

Guest Speaker for the 2016 Banquet
J. Alain Smith

J. Alain Smith is a writer and hunter whose success has allowed him to venture to all points of the globe in search of hunting adventures. An author of six books he continues actively pursuing adventure anywhere he can find it.

Born in Prince Albert, Sask. Canada, Alain and his family moved to the USA when his father was transferred there with his job. Sports and family outings in the outdoors consumed his youth.

Attending Chico State University to play soccer for this nationally ranked program, Alain left after two years to play professional soccer in the US and England until injuries ended his budding career. He then went into business for himself at the age of 23 years old, starting out in the commercial painting business and real estate before starting a shipping company to Kodiak Alaska, eventually expanding to serve the entire state of Alaska. He completed his education graduating from Harvard Business School.
He has written three hunting books, Close Calls and Hunting Adventures, Hunting New Horizons and Adventures in the Wild Places. His three fiction adventure novels on the exploits of Matt Simmons have been best sellers with the latest being Revenge is the Game.

Alain’s hunting career began with ducks and pheasant in Washington State, before moving up to big game while he lived and worked in Alaska. His first big game animal was a Sitka Black tail deer, which is still one of his favorite species to hunt.  Hunting with family and friends is his favorite past time. Both of his daughters have accompanied him on trips to far flung places around the world when they get a break from their busy schedules. Alain has collected over 350 different big game species from across the globe including 32 Capra and 32 Ovis species, all of the SCI slams at the Diamond level and the coveted Big 5 of Africa twice. He was presented the prestigious Weatherby Award and SCI's International Hunter of the Year for his hunting accomplishments.

Alain believes that we as hunters all need to give something back to our sport, through volunteering our time, investing our money and being proactive in making sure our rights as hunters are protected and that our children and grandchildren will be able to enjoy hunting as well. Alain is proud to be a board member of Safari Club International Foundation and the Hunter Legacy Fund as well as a lifetime member of Dallas Safari Club, GSCO, Ducks Unlimited, NRA and the Wild Sheep Foundation.

J. Alain Smith presents his new television show Rugged Expeditions. Join him on one thrilling adventure after another. You have followed his tracks across the globe in his hunting books and now you can watch him chasing big game around the world each week on the Sportsman Channel. Whether he is hunting in the swamps of Liberia or the mountains of Russia or the Montana river bottoms for Whitetail, the action and fun never stops!
